Elopement at Cortona & Villa Baroncino, Italy
A Love Story Written in Stone and Sunflowers: Danielle & Joe’s Cortona Elopement
There is something truly magical about a couple crossing an ocean to say "I do." When Danielle and Joe decided to trade their home in the USA for the rolling hills of Tuscany, they knew they didn't want a grand production they wanted an intimate, authentic, and deeply romantic connection. They chose the historic hilltop town of Cortona for their elopement, inviting only their closest family members to witness the beginning of their new life together.
The day began just outside the ancient walls of Cortona, where Danielle prepared for the ceremony in a charming, light filled apartment. As she got ready, the excitement was palpable. The first highlight of the day was the "First Look" on the terrace of Piazza Garibaldi. With the Tuscan skyline stretching out behind them, Joe saw his bride for the first time a quiet, emotional moment that set the tone for the rest of the day.
With the first look captured, we took a stroll through the heart of the town. Cortona’s narrow, winding cobblestone streets provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding portraits. Every corner told a story, and the historic atmosphere added a layer of timeless elegance to their photos.
For the ceremony, we moved away from the bustle of the town to the serene beauty of Villa Baroncino. Nestled in a lush, peaceful landscape, the villa offered the perfect sanctuary for their symbolic ceremony. Surrounded by the greenery and the quiet of the Tuscan countryside, Danielle and Joe exchanged their vows. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt toast, celebrating not just the marriage, but the love that brought them all the way to Italy.
On the way back to Cortona for the wedding lunch, we stumbled upon a stroke of luck. July in Tuscany is synonymous with one thing: sunflowers. We found an incredible field in full bloom the golden petals reaching their absolute peak of color and beauty. It was the perfect, spontaneous stop to capture some of the most stunning portraits of the day, immortalizing the vibrant energy of the season.
As the sun began to dip lower, we returned to Cortona to celebrate. The reception was hosted at Ristorante da Tonino, where the couple enjoyed a traditional wedding meal. The day reached its sweet conclusion on the restaurant’s panoramic terrace, where the family gathered for the cake cutting and a final toast, overlooking the valley as the sky turned soft with the colors of dusk.
It was a short, intense, and deeply joyful day. Thank you, Danielle and Joe, for allowing us to be part of such a special chapter in your lives. We had the best time documenting your love!
